Exam Travel Arrangements for 5th – 7th June 2019Published on: May 30, 2019
Dear Students, Parents and Carers,
As you will no doubt be aware, Portsmouth will be the focal point of national commemorations for D-Day 75, with an array of events from 5th – 9th June.
Portsmouth City Council are aware that many of our students will be sitting exams during this period and have provided assurances that the city will remain open for business as usual during this time. However, we do anticipate disruption on the roads and advise students taking exams to allow extra time for travel during this period.
On Wednesday 5th June in particular, we are expecting significantly higher volumes of traffic and security in the city. We strongly advise that students taking exams on this day, whether morning or afternoon, plan to arrive at College well ahead of their exam start times. The College will be open to students from 7.30am and quiet areas will be available for study. Portsmouth City Council have also provided some general travel advice for this day.
Morning exams commence at 9am and afternoon exams at 1.30pm. Please note if students arrive at their exam room after 10am for morning exams, or after 2.30pm for afternoon exams, they would ordinarily not be permitted to sit the exam.
We will consider very late arrivals on 5th, 6th and 7th June only on a case-by-case basis, however the decision on whether to accept a very late script will be made by the awarding body. In the event the awarding body refuses a very late script, the student will fail this exam paper. Please also note in these circumstances we may not be able to provide the full time for the examination. It is also not possible to reschedule any missed exams, regardless of the reason for absence.
With best wishes,
