The Level 2 Sport programme is designed to combine practical based learning with the theory that underpins it. The two courses that you’ll study are aimed to help your progression into either employment or the next level of qualifications.
There are no additional entry requirements for this course. Please refer to the basic entry requirements for this course/level.
These qualifications are designed for students aged 16-19 years old wanting to specialise in the wider contexts of coaching skills, techniques, tactics, anatomy and physiology.
Optional units on the Level 2 CTEC Extended Certificate in Sport include nutrition for sport, marketing, sports therapy, leadership in sport, sport as a business, fitness testing and practical participation. They’re ideal for the workplace due to the combination of transferable theoretical and practical skills.
The Level 2 Award in Community Sports Leadership course involves both guided and peer-to-peer learning and supervised leadership to ensure that learners have all the skills they need to lead basic physical activities to other people.
An interest in sport is essential but you must also be committed to volunteering in sport and leisure settings.
There are coursework assessments in a variety of forms, including written, observed and presented assignments.
You can be a part of our sports academy teams or sign up for extensive work experience. Any learners considering a career in the Armed Forces should research into our amazing Combined Cadet Force.
Students may progress onto local sport and leisure sector jobs such as ‘Recreation Assistant’ and ‘Sports Coach’, or level 3 sport courses (based on performance at level 2).
Assessments will be ongoing throughout the year.
