Course Description

This course provides an introduction to Business. Studying units, comprising of; Finance and Forecasting, Business Online, Marketing, Customer Relations and Business Communication, Training and Employment and Business Ethics. It provides excellent preparation for progression onto our CTEC Level 3 Business qualification. You will develop relevant business understanding with transferable skills through hands-on experience and preparing further study in Business or the world of work.

The course consists of the following units:

  • Business Purpose – Develop your understanding of the purpose of business and ownership, whilst understanding the context in which businesses operate.
  • Finance and Forecasting – Business is about making money! This unit will develop the tools you need to be able to classify costs, revenues and profit for a business and, more importantly, to be able to predict what these figures might be.
  • Marketing Plan – Focuses on developing the skills necessary to understand the role of marketing, within an organisation. Most people who start to work in marketing will be involved in promotional activities, to make your business stand out. This unit focuses on promotional activities, for your very own start-up business.
  • Business Online – Look at how a growing number of businesses operate online, from carrying out online promotions, to maximising the opportunity to personalise marketing to meet the needs of individuals. Having an online presence offers businesses the opportunity to reach new customers, in new global markets
  • Business Communication – Focuses your skills on the importance of business documentation and how businesses must communicate clearly, with all of their stakeholders. You will also learn how to produce professional documentation, for use in today’s business world.
  • Training and Employment – Develop career management skills (career development planning, application and interviewing techniques) whilst at the same time using the knowledge gained, to place skills into the context of organisational ‘people resources’ requirements (job roles, functions and structures).

This course is an excellent precursor to our CTEC Level 3 Business qualification.
