Careers and Progression Advisers

SALARY: £18,909 - £19,918 per annum

POSITION: Temporary / Full-Time

The Careers and Progression Adviser will work as a member of a wider team responsible for supporting student decisions and student progression opportunities. The post holders will work with vocational based curriculum areas, supporting students who seek to participate in work experience/industry placements that relate to a students study programme and future progression plans.

An important part of the role will be to establish links with teaching staff in specific vocational curriculum areas and to encourage the development of careers learning with students’ whose core learning aims are vocational based. In addition, the Careers and Progression Adviser will support students within the allocated vocational area at key transitional stages, supporting students with the next stage of their learning whether this be level 2 to level 3 or their progression to university.

Relevant experience is essential. This could come from previous work in a careers adviser role but could also arise from work as a teacher or in a student centred support role. You will need to be confident in group and one-to-one interactions, demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills, have an understanding of the need to maintain boundaries and confidentiality with students and the ability to work with sensitivity and humour. The successful candidates will be required to undertake an enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check.

2 TEMPORARY POSTS (1 Year)

(Supporting Work Experience and Industry Placements)

37 hours per week, to be worked Monday to Thursday 8:30 am to 4:00 pm and Friday 8.30 am to 3.30 pm

Salary: Support staff pay spine: 6 to 8 depending on relevant qualifications and experience. Actual salary: £18,909 to £19,918 per annum.
