Flying Start for Year 11’sPublished on: April 27, 2020
WELCOME TO THE THIRD EDITION OF THE NEW PRINCIPAL’S BLOG, WHICH IS RELEASED EVERY MONDAY IN TERM TIME.
Flying Start for Year 11’s
This week I am focusing on the ‘Flying Start’ programme for Year 11’s. This is designed to help this year group to make their next steps beyond school in these unprecedented times. It is a website full of resources to help you deal with the current situation, make your next steps and prepare for college courses, apprenticeships and employment.
It has been put together by Portsmouth College and a number of other local organisations: Highbury College, HSDC, Portsmouth City Council and the Southern University Network (SUN), with help from EBP South. It is a site that will continue to develop over time as more and more resources get added to it.
Specifically, the flying start site will help Year 11s and their parents:
Deal with the current situation
Plan for next steps
Prepare for the college courses, apprenticeship or employment you are moving on to
The site launches this Wednesday, April 29th and if you google ‘Flying Start Portsmouth’ from then you will be able to access it.
Watch out for further information and communications coming out on social media and in the local press soon.
We hope it will be a really useful resource to help Year 11s across the city and beyond to deal with these unprecedented times. We want all Year 11s to be able to carry on studying, get ready for their progression to college and so get the ‘flying start’ they need in these difficult times.
