Lockdown Update – 5th Jan 2021Published on: January 5, 2021
Based on the Government announcement on Monday 4th January it is now essential to update our correspondence that we issued on 1st January.
The Department for Education has stated that exams that are scheduled to take place in January will go ahead as planned. If there are any changes to this then we will update you with this position as soon as possible. A reminder that exams run at different times to the main College timetable; please check your exam timetable on MyTPC if you are due to sit a January exam.
Update 7th January: We have taken the decision to cancel remaining BTEC / CTEC examinations in January.
All lessons will now be delivered online and live at the time in which it is indicated on student timetables. Full attendance and engagement is expected for these sessions. Our team of Progress Mentors will be contacting students who do not engage to ensure that they do. It is extremely important in this period of remote teaching and learning that students do not fall behind with their studies as it could significantly impact on their achievement and progress. If there are any concerns in relation to engagement/progress then please contact the Progress Mentor team at firstname.lastname@example.org
Vulnerable students/places for critical workers
Vulnerable students (those with EHCP/Enhanced Bursary/looked after children/unaccompanied minors) will be offered a place in the Study Centre to work and these students are being asked to contact the Progress Mentors via email (email@example.com) if they require a place (this can be due to not having suitable space or IT equipment at home)
The SEND team are working with parents directly in order to ascertain requirements for a place over this period
Covid Positive Cases
Can we ask that you still let us know if any of our students test positive for covid during this lockdown period, so we can make sure we have accurate records and can offer help and advice as appropriate. Please call the main college number (023 9266 7521) and use option 0 to report a positive covid result.
This is a difficult period for all of us. We will continue to do all we can to ensure students can still make progress towards their final outcomes. We will also work with our national bodies, the Sixth Form Colleges Association and the Association of Colleges, to get clarity on what will be replacing summer exams as quickly as possible.
Please take care and stay safe.
