HAHA Annual Showcase EventPublished on: March 12, 2020
HAHA (Hampshire Apprenticeship Hairdressing Academy) Training held their annual student showcase in February at the glorious Queens Hotel, Southsea and was sponsored by Portsmouth College and Wonderful Life Hair & Beauty Suppliers.
The event saw 30 students take part in competitive colour, bridal and fantasy categories, with weeks of preparation from the students and educators. With judges from the Milkshake and Affinage education team, an award winning bridal expert and the owner of London Academy Salons, the judging panel were some of the industries finest, all of whom were greatly impressed with the work of our students.
Over 150 spectators attended the event and were wowed by the styles on display. These kind of events are not part of our curriculum but something we feel as a training academy, is so important to showcase creativity of our students and give them a different experience besides the day to day hairdressing in the salon setting. We find that competing in the showcase builds morale amongst the students and gives them a real buzz as well as developing their confidence as hairdressers.
This year our chosen charity to fundraise for was Friends Fighting Cancer, a local charity who support people fighting cancer. The event also fell on World Cancer Day, so we decided to also raise some money to support this charity too.
It was a great evening to celebrate the success of our cohort which was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Next year, we are planning for the event to take place on a larger scale, potentially raising even more money for a good cause.
