The International Team
Amy Phillips
International Officer
I was appointed to help kickstart the new Global Engagement department back in 2018 and have enjoyed creating the foundations of what we do and who we are as a department. Our students, parents and global partners can ask me anything about our international study programmes and I will be sure to have an answer, especially after working in this sector since 2010.
I am driven by my desire to give our international students the best opportunity and experience possible and also in the broader view show to the world why Portsmouth is such a unique and great place to live and study. In my spare time, I enjoy being a Mum to a young daughter, renovating our home, and keeping up to date with the latest political developments of our generation.
Angela Igualada Saiz
Marketing coordinator
I am originally from Spain but moved to Portsmouth a few years ago. I have been working with Global for over a year now and I really love it. The best part about working with international students is that you get to know different cultures and learn different things. I enjoy creating fun and engaging activities for our students. We go above and beyond to provide the best experience for our international students.
Danielle Parker
Global Administrator
I have worked at Portsmouth College for over five years as an E6 Project coordinator and in the last year I have also taken a role within the Global department as an administrator. Working in the Global department has been a great experience and has allowed me to learn and develop my knowledge of different cultures and countries. I have always enjoyed travelling and have visited many countries around the world. Working in two different departments across the College allows me to give our international students informed information about the opportunities available for them to develop their skills whilst studying abroad.
: I have been fortunate enough to set up a number of new departments and initiatives at Portsmouth College, the latest of which is the Global Engagement department. Innovation is at the heart of everything we do at the College and in 2018 we took the decision to focus on developing Global Citizenship throughout our student fraternity. Fast forward three years and we now have over 50 international students studying with us from around the world, Portsmouth College students have visited over 25 countries across the globe and we have delivered Train the Train programmes in 5 different international destinations.
I have thoroughly enjoyed seeing this programme develop from conception through to consolidation and I love the fact that we are not only able to offer a range of international experiences to our students but that we have young people from around the world immersing themselves in Portsmouth’s culture! There is, of course, the added bonus that I get to see different parts of the world as part of the programme too!!
Katie Moughton
Global Engagement Officer
I have watched and supported the Global department grow since its start. My role within the team is to help provide support for our international students throughout the duration of their study programme. When we are delivering Educational visits, I help to organise the logistics and act as support for the arranged bespoke trips that are personalised to our groups interests. I enjoy working for Global as I love to watch the students grow in confidence with their English speaking skills during their time with us. As a lover of travelling overseas and learning about new cultures myself, I enjoy showing the visiting groups and students around Portsmouth and what the sunny waterfront city has to offer.
