This course will develop your ability to work with clients on a one-on-one basis, to plan and deliver exercise sessions, as well as giving nutritional advice to help clients reach their goals. This qualification is desired by the fitness industry, so you can work as a Personal Trainer once qualified after a year, allowing direct entry into employment. Alongside the course, there will be opportunities to undertake work experience to learn from working PTs and develop your employability.
You must have already completed the NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Exercise and Fitness to study this course.

There are 9 units in total, which are assessed through a range of written assessments, oral presentations and practical observations. Units include ‘Anatomy & Physiology’, ‘Nutrition’ and ‘Delivering Exercise’. Alongside the course, you will be encouraged to undertake work experience and complete a first aid qualification.
You will develop interpersonal, written and practical delivery skills as well as having time to develop your own physique in order to be ready to work in the industry when you qualify.

Work experience and First Aid are great to combine with this course. You could also investigate some of the opportunities in the Enterprise Academy to learn how to start your own business and cultivate your entrepreneurial skills. The E6 Programme also allows you to develop interview skills and polish your CV – both of which are useful when seeking employment in the world of work.
You could work as a personal trainer or fitness instructor.
Work experience tends to occur in the 6 weeks leading up to Christmas and again after Easter.
