Horizons is a course that supports students with various life skills and preparation for adulthood. Basic skills such as reading, writing and spelling are implemented into various units to allow students to develop an understanding of day-to-day tasks.
There are no entry requirements for this course.
The primary purpose of the qualifications in the Horizons class is to recognise personal growth and engagement in learning. These qualifications will help students become more confident and more independent to develop life skills to access their community. This will also enable them to explore opportunities and skills for work in the future. This will be achieved through practical lessons and course work. Students also have the opportunity to gain work experience and are encouraged to join in with additional activities such as Rock Challenge.
This course is designed to provide you with the opportunity to build your skills and knowledge. The course also helps students become more confident and more independent so they can develop life skills to access their community.
This course is 100% coursework-based and assessments are completed throughout the year.
For this course, students are offered work experience, supported internships, and we are developing increased opportunities for community involvement for all of our students.
Students are able to progress through the different courses, providing they are showing academic progress.
Moderation of students’ work is set to take place from April 2019.
