Course Description

NEW COURSE FOR SEPTEMBER 2022

This exciting new qualification is focused on progression to employment across a range of roles within Esports. Jobs that are available in these areas include an Esports player, Shoutcaster and Presenter, Social Media Influencer, Video Production Editor or Data Analyst.

Students enrolling on this course should have an active interest in gaming and have some experience of online gaming in particular.

As an international student you must:

  • Demonstrate a suitable level of academic English, normally at CEFR level B1. For Student Visa applications Portsmouth College recommends a minimum IELTS score of 5.5 overall (with no component lower than 5) to best succeed in your studies.
  • Demonstrate that you are competent to study at Level 3 in your chosen subjects during your application, including certificates of your qualifications and subject specific requirements such as evidence of an art portfolio for entry on to one of our Art courses.
  • Successfully complete a Skype interview with the College to discuss and assess your subject choices.

This is a career-focused qualification with industry endorsement that will let you learn underpinning knowledge, develop technical and transferable skills, and gain experience in a variety of different sections of the esports industry. Across the two years you will study four units:

• Unit 1: Introduction to Esports
• Unit 2: Esports Skills, Strategies and Analysis
• Unit 3: Enterprise and Entrepreneurship in the Esports Industry
• Unit 4: Health, Wellbeing and Fitness for Esports Players.

You will learn a range of different skills from presentational skills to technical and tactical elements to improve your online gaming. The course will draw upon your knowledge of this subject by applying it to scenarios and career options in this industry.

Future opportunities include Esports degrees or routes to earn money as an Esports Player, Shoutcaster/Presenter, Social Media Influencer or Video Production Editor.
