Level 2

Course Description

All apprentices will complete compulsory units and a number of optional units.
These are delivered and assessed within the classroom and in the workplace with a high level of practical elements and independent study and research. Learners will complete a case study on a chosen child in the workplace. Employers are kept informed of the learners progress, with access to the e-portfolio assessment system and regular contact with tutors and assessors. The course is delivered by qualified and highly experienced tutors and assessors.


Candidates who don’t have the desired GCSE A-C grade or equivalent in Maths/ English and ICT will need to commit to attend Functional skills classes.


This apprenticeship is suitable for a variety of roles within any industry. Some of these include:

  • Primary School Teaching
  • Assistant in Children’s Centres
  • Assistant Pre-School Practitioner
  • Nursery School Assistant

Qualifications Gained

Depending on the level the candidate completes they will gain a:

  • Level 2 Certificate for Children and Young People’s Workforce
  • Level 2 Employment Rights and Responsibilities
  • Level 2 Food Hygiene
  • Paediatric First Aid

Course Duration

Course duration can vary depending on which level apprenticeship you choose. This Level 2 Apprenticeship takes 12-18 months.
