Students and staff at Portsmouth College are today celebrating news of outstanding results for their A level and BTEC students, with an overall pass rate of 97% and 47% achieving the very highest grades at A*-B/Distinction. These figures sustain the now long-standing record of excellent results at the City’s sixth form college.

They also mean that students from across the city and from all our key feeder schools are now able to move on to Russell Group and other leading universities.

With a passion for chemistry, and impeccable scientific skill sets, three first year Portsmouth College students faced their toughest challenge yet in the form of ‘The Lower Sixth Challenge’.

Run by Cambridge University Chemistry Department, St Catharine's College Cambridge, Corpus Christi College Cambridge and The Goldsmith' Company, this highly prestigious competition sees students stretched beyond their current knowledge and ability, and challenges them to exhibit the level of knowledge and skill expected at University.

Today saw the official opening of Portsmouth College’s latest improvements to facilities, as renovations to the art atrium and the newly built outdoor canopy were officially launched, with special guests and friends of the College attending the celebration. 

After countless hours of work, improvements to the art atrium allows students a renewed and professional space to work, the opportunity to use an industry standard photography studio and darkroom as well as the use of Apple Mac suites for Architecture, Graphic Design and Digital Film courses.
