We are shortlisted in the ‘Outstanding Use of Technology for Improving Teaching, Learning and Assessment’ and the ‘Best Teaching and Learning Initiative’ categories.

Staff, students and governors of Portsmouth College are delighted to announce that the College has won the Association of Colleges Beacon Award for the 'Effective Use of Technology in Further Education'. This prestigious, national award was open to all the four hundred plus colleges nationwide, so it is a huge accolade for us to come out on top!

The award recognises the outstanding and highly innovative work the college has done through its ‘Curious and Creative Learning’ project. This sees us equip staff and students with iPads for use in teaching, learning and assessment. As a result, the way teachers deliver their lessons and the way students learn, both inside and outside the classroom, is being transformed to meet the ways of working of 21st century students and is having a significant impact on their learning, progress and outcomes:

University students are offering guidance to college students who, in turn, will share their knowledge with secondary school pupils in a new chain mentoring scheme. 'Portsmouth Scholars', a scheme to help and encourage young people thinking about university study, launched at Portsmouth College this week.

The partnership between the University of Portsmouth and Portsmouth College aims to help pupils progress from school to college to higher education.

The Unloc Enterprise Academy, a programme of Social Enterprise Unloc, is to launch a co-working space for young people aged 16-20 in the Portsmouth area to further support entrepreneurship within the city.

Its mission is to support and incubate young people running start up businesses, charities and community projects in Portsmouth. The centre has 8 hot-desking spaces, a large collapsible conference room space and two meeting pods as well as up to date technology including high spec computers and 3D printers.
