The College is delighted to announce that Simon Barrable, our current Deputy Principal, has been appointed as Principal from September 2018.

This follows the imminent retirement of our current Principal, Steve Frampton, who has led the College for thirteen years. Having spent several years as Steve's deputy, Simon is perfectly placed to continue the very successful journey the College is on, as we move towards out goal of becoming an outstanding institution.

Simon is thrilled with his new appointment;

I am proud and honoured to be taking over as the new Principal of this very popular College. Having worked here for a number of years, including as Deputy Principal, it has been fantastic to be part of the very successful journey the College has been on. September will mark the start of the next stage of this journey, where we seek to provide an ever more outstanding education and service to Portsmouth and the surrounding area."

Well done to Science students who recently competed in the Blott-Matthews Engineering Competition 'Energy for Everything' for Sixth Form Colleges.

The task was to design a carbon-neutral mega-city in the area between Southampton and Portsmouth; which is something our Principal, Steve Frampton, has a great interest in, having worked on integrated sustainable transport and infrastructure solutions himself. The competition brief included renewable energy generation, carbon neutral transport solutions, carbon capture, and domestic energy savings.

Students gained a glimpse of the challenges and rewards of a career as a professional engineer applying state of the art technology to highly innovative concepts.

The team won second place out of 9 teams from 5 colleges in Hampshire and Oxfordshire, for the second year running.

Rock Challenge is one of our favourite events in the College calendar with previous years being very successful. Last night saw the Southern Open for 2018 showcase performances from local schools and colleges to once again encourage young people to make positive life choices and be their best.

Our performance this year showed the story of true life reality against the dreams of those that think they are heading for a glamorous life of dance and theatre but sometimes find themselves trafficked into the sex industry and a very different world to that they expected.

We are thrilled to say that the Portsmouth College Rock Challenge Team performed an outstanding piece which was awarded 1st place in this initial heat which means they qualify to the Southern Regional Final in April!
