The photography students had a day of professional pampering and portraiture this week. The AS and A2 students were given very comprehensive lessons on skin care and studio make-up by Helen Dowdle a professional make-up artist. After they had been made to look make-up gorgeous they were given the professional studio lighting treatment by Sarah Jankowski.
Helen was once a student of Portsmouth College and was keen to give the students job opportunities and work experience in the make-up consultant field. The photography courses are very keen to develop the student’s professional skills and digital photographic technologies. We are keen to make sure the students are prepared with highly competitive portfolios for the competitive university application processes and the workplace. Sophie Read “ I had a great time, I will now use the knowledge from this workshop to develop my photography in the studio.” Lukasz Kurazinski “ I decided to take some documentary photographs of the day, the other students and the teachers were happy with my final shoot. I had my photograph taken with a lot of make-up applied, and you cannot see that I have any on.” Helen Dowdle (make-up artist) “The students were very quiet at first, I had to convince them that I would do a good job. After the first one they were very forthcoming. I had a really great time. I also met the principal Steve Frampton who was very brave in having make-up applied in front of the students, and his photograph taken. He was excellent.” Written by Sarah Jankowski.
