Performance Excellence Through Education at Portsmouth College

DramaLevel 2 >
Performing Arts (BTEC)

If you choose to study Performing Arts at Portsmouth College then you will be taking an exciting vocational course that will give you lots of opportunities to perform as well as the chance to find out what it takes to make it in the industry.

You will learn a huge range of new skills and develop the ones you already have in acting, dance and singing. To get onto this course, you need to have real ability in at least one discipline along with the willingness to learn the others to a high standard.

It is a very demanding course, requiring discipline, commitment and very good attendance. But it is also a very rewarding course that can lead to studying a degree in performance or work in the industry. Highlights include tours of primary and secondary schools, performances at the New Theatre Royal and the final major project performance at the end of the second year. In 2010 students performed in a breathtaking performance of Complicité de theatre’s ‘Street of Crocodiles’ and in 2011 they will be performing a physical theatre interpretation of ‘Midsummer Night’s Dream’
