How to Apply - Part Time

Enrolment Information/ How to Enrol

1. Online
Click the available link located in the bottom section of the page for the course you wish to enrol on to. This link will take you to a secure webpage where you will be able to book and pay for your chosen course. If you are a new user you will be required to create a new account to be able to proceed with the online booking.

2. By Post
Download your application form here and send it, together with a cheque made payable to Portsmouth College or your credit card details, to Reception (Adult Learning), Portsmouth College, Tangier Road, Portsmouth, Hampshire. PO3 6PZ. (Please include a SAE for full course details and receipt).

2.  By telephone for credit card or Switch/Maestro enrolments
Either complete the credit card mandate on the reverse side and post to Portsmouth College at the above address.  Alternatively, please call us directly on:

3.  By fax
Please fax your completed Application Form to Portsmouth College, Adult Education 023 9234 4363.  If you do not wish to fax your credit card or switch/Maestro details please send a photocopy of your cheque, which should then be posted to reach us within 3 working days.

Fee Remission

If you wish to claim fee remission (government funded discount) then you must fall into one of the following categories whilst also being eligible for government funding by having been a resident in the UK for three years prior to the start of the course (Ordinarily Resident).

a) Those aged 16, 17 or 18 on 31st August 2009.

b) Learners taking a full Level 2 qualification for the first time. (Please ask for further information).

c) 19 to 25 years (age as at 31st August 2009) studying their first full Level 3 qualification (Please as for further information).

d) Those in receipt of any income-based benefits listed below, formerly known as means-tested benefits, that is:

  • unemployed people in receipt of income-based Jobseekers allowance;
  • those in receipt of Council Tax Benefit;
  • those in receipt of Housing Benefit;
  • those in receipt of Income Support;
  • those in receipt of Working Tax Credit with a household income of less than £15, 276;
  • those in receipt of Pension Credit (Guarantee Credit only);

          and

  • those in receipt of income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) - a new allowance from 27th October 2008

e) Unemployed people in receipt of contribution-based Jobseeker's Allowance.

f) The unwaged dependents (as defined by Jobcentre Plus) of those listed above.

g) Offenders who are serving their sentence in the community.

h) Those taking programmes that are funded as basic skills.

i) Asylum seekers eligible for LSC funding according to the guidance and in receipt of the equivalent of income-based benefit (assitance under the terms of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999) and their dependents. 

j) Level 3 jumpers (those taking a full Level 3 without having a full Level 2 qualification).

If you are unsure as to whether your circumstances will make you eligible to apply for fee remission then please contact the College on 023 9266 7521 and you will receive assistance.

Portsmouth College will require current evidence of any claim for fee remission (generally documentation that is less than 3 months old) prior to enrolments being confirmed. Please agree the evidence requirement with College staff when booking the course.

Please note that examination fees are still payable as only the teaching element of the charges are paid for by claiming fee remission.
